You know what, summer in England is almost over... :( The only things that I can look forward to in Christmas...

James Cabana

I took my siaters place in a skating routine with two other girls this past july. Since I skate with my sister regularly and have helped her work on her routine for the past few weeks, I knew it as well as anybody. When my sister broke her wrist on the morning of the performance, I was forced to take her place. I prayed that her skating dress would be to small so that I couldn't do it but I was'nt that lucky. My mom made up my hair and face (yuck). I had to put on two pairs of tights because a little bit of hair was sticking thru the first pair. When my mom finished zipping the back of the dress up I walked to the mirror and my legs started shaking when I saw what I looked like. I tried to talk my way out of it. When my dad and sister saw me everyone started clapping and whisteling. I was so embarrased. When my sister told me how much this meant to her and how much everyone on her team will appreciate what I'm doing I felt better and proud to do it. When Tina called her teammates to tell them, mom stopped her and said it would be better if they didn't know until we got to the ice rink. When I walked out of the house into the daylight and the wind hit me and it made the little skirt flutter on my legs it felt like electricity. Thank God noone was outside. When we got to the rink I thought that everyone was staring at me. When we met up with Janice and Gail, my sisters teammates for the routine, they looked at Tina with her hand and arm in a cast then looked at me they just busted out laughing. They couldn't believe that I was doing this. They were so happy and their moms were praising me and telling me how cute I looked. they told my mom that I saved the day. When it was time for our performance, it was perfect, the people were clapping and whistling like crazy. When we came to center ice for our bows, I got the most applause and whistles. I felt so great I couldn't believe it. I didn't even want to change or put my sweats on to hide the outfit. I didn't even mind some of the laughing that some of the guys were doing because all the girls seemed to like what I did and that I have the guts to do it. I stayed with Tina, Janice and gail and the rest of their skating team the rest of the day and had the most fun of my life.
Thank you, James
